  This Booster kit provides additional lesson plans, activities, and games that complement the Kelso Conflict Management program. Kit includes Putting Kelso into Play DVD with additional scenarios, "It's Your Choice" card games for students to play in or outside the classroom and new teachers' guide and lesson plans. Please Note: The Booster Activities and lessons will further develop and refine the Kelso's Choice concepts and philosophy, and do not constitute a stand-alone curriculum. The Booster Curriculum Kit offers additional Kelso's Choice resources and activities to support the conflict management curriculum. The program is comprised of two sections for grades K - 3 and grades 4 - 5. The same core concepts and philosophy are taught in both sections with slight differences to reflect the varying developmental and maturity levels. Grades K - 3 lessons are designed around Kelso the Frog, and offers nine options students can choose from to resolve conflicts. Grades 4 - 5 lessons are based around K.C.'s Choices which present eight verbal and nonverbal choices. Students are taught to use these choices and differentiate between problems they can handle on their own and those requiring adult intervention. They will also be empowered with skills to make, and become accountable for, their own choices. Booster Leader's Guide Kelso's Booster Curriculum Leader's Guide offers an outline for Parents/Guardians to learn the concepts and components of the Kelso's Choice Curriculum, provides grade appropriate reinforcement activities, and a CD for reproducible masters. The Booster Leader's Guide outlines activities designed to further reinforce the message that all children are strong enough and smart enough to solve small problems. This guide includes: - Parents' Night Letter - Parents' Night Poster - Printable and Reproducible Kelso's and K.C.'s Wheels - Kelso's and K.C. Games - Kelso Classroom Activities (Including instruction on how to make a Willow Pond Theater - to be used with paper puppet cutouts) - Four Extension lessons for Grades K -1 - Four Extension lessons for Grades 2 -3 - Four Extension lessons for Grades 4-5 - A CD to make it even easier to print out reproducible handouts The scope and sequence of the lessons are flexible and can be adapted to your needs. School counselors, teachers, and administrators can present the lessons and extended activities to students. The curriculum is easily adapted to a variety of setting: classroom, small groups, individual counseling, and school-wide programs. A suggested time allotment and grade-level range are noted on each lesson. |
