  Response to Intervention (RTI) and Differentiated Instruction (DI) are two powerful approaches for addressing the needs of all learners. They share many common elements, perhaps the most significant of which is their student-centered focus and utilization of on-going assessments to inform decision-making and facilitate good instruction. RTI, as a multi-tiered framework, uses a problem-solving process to match the needs of students to research-based interventions. DI is a way to plan/deliver curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. It is through DI that RTI can be successfully implemented.
